History/Overview
Since its 2015 arrival in North America, the Alfa Romeo 4C sports car has served not only as the Italian brand's flagship model here, but also a halo car for its Fiat Chrysler Automobiles parent company. For 2020, the 4C Spider is unchanged.
Available Trims
Alfa sells the 4C Spider in a single trim. Power is from a mid-mounted, turbocharged 1.7L four-cylinder engine, which comes mated to a six-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission.
Standard Features
The 4C Spider is a convertible with a soft top that stows in the car's trunk. Standard features include rear parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring, cruise control, leather seats, HID headlights, a sound system with HD and satellite radio, CD player and auxiliary input, smartphone integration with Bluetooth, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, and power-adjustable heated side mirrors with keyless entry.
Key Options
Alfa Romeo 4C Spider options include larger wheels and different wheel designs, xenon headlights, a race-tuned suspension, painted brake calipers, an Alpine stereo with subwoofer, and red leather upholstery. The sole option group is an interior carbon fibre package that adds the high-tech material to various dash and console surfaces.
Fuel Economy
Alfa Romeo's fuel consumption estimates for the 4C Spider are 9.7/6.9 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
The Alfa Romeo 4C competes directly for buyers with the equally performance-focused Lotus Elise. The Porsche 718 Boxster is similar in concept, if not in execution, and the 4C could be considered a cross-shopper with the Mazda MX-5 if that car was given a serious dose of caffeine.
